5.00% money market at HomeBanc…for two months
HomeBanc has easily the best money market or savings account I’ve seen recently: Their money market is yielding 5.00% APY. The money market has as minimum balance of $1000 and a maximum of $100,000 to earn that great rate. As with many too-good-to-be-true deals, however, there is a little bit of a catch, as the rate is only guaranteed for 60 days, and a companion checking account with a $1500 minimum is required. This deal doesn’t seem to be listed on their website, but you can see an ad for it here. If you do get the checking account, there’s also some good CD rates for checking account holders: a 13-to-17-month CD at 4.20% APY, a 24-to-30-month CD at 4.60% APY, and a 36-to-42-month CD at 4.85% APY.
HomeBanc has four branches: Two in Tampa and one each in Lake Mary and Sarasota.
